Stop Edging The Cake

I’ve talked about “Edging the Cake” on RER before. You know, when you slice off a bit of the edge of that cake on your counter. often it’s to “even it out”, often it’s because you just want a taste…before you know it a whole piece is gone, but you don’t feel the fulfillment of eating a piece.  I do this all the time with any type of bread or sweets.

Today I gotten a package of cornbread from the grocer’s bakery (because I plan on cleaning the kitchen and didn’t want to add to the mess). After I brought it home I cut a piece for my lunch and a few pieces for Ben’s dinner. Then, I cut up the rest, put it in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. disaster averted!

After a morning filled with way too lots of snacks I wasn’t hungry for lunch until around 2:30pm. I grabbed a few things from the salad bar at the store. When I got home I added some carrots and corn bread. Lunch of champions.

I also scored this cookie sample at the market. I made a decision to take it home by means of a baggie in my purse (okay that baggie was also holding my coupons, but vouchers don’t mind crumbs). This way I wasn’t mindlessly eating it in the store, but took pleasure in it after lunch.

It looks dry, but was actually soft and chewy – Yum!

I might start having to bring tupperware to Costco. Wait, did I just say that. I am embarrassing.

The huge cheese selection grabbed my attention and I walked out this this new find. I had high expectations, but it was just okay.

I ate it  with some Kashi crackers.

I’m behind on spring cleaning and studying for the personal training exam. I’ll check ya later!

I subscribed for this race in April hoping and wishing and praying that I’d make a pal to run with me. Well, that never happened. But, I did find someone that needed a ride to the race so skinny Runner and I carpooled.

We met at 3:52am so she undoubtedly had no time to change after her night job.

I’ve been burnt out on running and finally was ecstatic about this race! I love Disney stuff so I have been looking forward to running through Disneyland. For a second I thought I was Tinker Bell and tried to fly. It wasn’t happening.

“You win again, Gravity!!!”

I hit up goodwill last night for a throw away cover considering that my tee shirt was tissue thin.

But, it wasn’t very cold so I was ready to toss that thing before the start.

Just a sell out with my shells out…

Skinny Runner must change her name to photo Runner because she ran with cam in hand and documented every mile, snot rocket, water stop, porta potty, back fat shot and Disney Character!

The first part of the course ran through Disneyland – it was still dark at this point. Running through the castle was pretty romantic amazing though! main street and Cinderella’s Castle were lit up and magical

At about mile 3 we headed out of the D-land area and ran around Anaheim. There was a lot of crowd support through downtown Disney and ideal out of the park. The course around Anaheim was nothing amazing, but there were some good bands and cheer squads!

Around Mile 11-ish we headed to California Adventure. This was best timing and pumps you up to finish the race! Plus, by this time the sun is up so you can really see and take pleasure in the sights and sounds of the park!

My side braid didn’t want to cooperate so I kept fussing with it the whole time. For some reason 2 braids work fine, but one braid is too thick and keeps jumping from front to back. Noted.

But, I am delighted to report that my shell bra didn’t fall off! I was terrified one of my shells abandoned ship when someone yelled, “Areola!!” but it turns out they were just yelling “Ariel”! Whew!

Skinny Runner is substantially faster and skinnier than me so I thought she was going to take off and win the whole damn thing. But, she ended up running with me the entire time. We talked and took pleasure in the course – it was the most fun I’ve had in a race.

Before I knew it we were at the finish line! This race really flew by!!

Tinker Bell half done in 1:50:25 – That’s pretty good considering we were  talking (about vacations, races, ex-boyfriends, bowel movements and religion) the whole time!

Thank you SR for running with me, going to the porta potties twice before hand, taking pictures and looking the other way as I shoved an entire Clif Z bar in my mouth post race.

Super Market Craziness

Oh.My.Gosh. After my visit this morning I had to hit up the incredibly market since we’re out of eggs as well as Ben is some type of “eggatarian”. I have never understood any individual else that likes eggs as much as him. great thing all these huevos are complimentary considering that I won the Eggland’s finest contest a while back!

Anyways, back to the crazy incredibly market. obviously it is the Apocalypse since everybody is stocking up for some type of disaster. The shelves were bare in some locations as well as a mess in others! I was going to take a pic, however I understand lots of markets have a odd policy about that (most of the time I neglect it, however I was trying to get out of the store with my sanity).

Before my visit I had a yogurt as well as cereal bowl with greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, almond butter as well as cereals. It was so good!

I likewise had a little piece of Ben’s french toast that I made him for breakie. I’m pleased of the truth that I really took a photo of it as well as didn’t let it go “forgotten”.

When I got back from the craziness I was hungry, however wished to work out. I made a decision to have an apple to hold me over. But, then the apple only made me hungrier.

So, I just made a decision to eat lunch as well as put off working out for a bit bit. I had – Veggie burger salad with hummus, 1/2 bagel thin with cream cheese as well as veggie straws.

Yes! I discovered the bagel thins I’ve been browsing for. I’m a bit great deal ecstatic about this one!

Ha! this time around I gotten the veggie crisps in private bundles so I wouldn’t eat them all in two days! Let’s see if this works considering that opening up a second bundle isn’t precisely rocket science ?

In knee News: My knee truly hurt yesterday as well as I didn’t run or anything. I believe my body was just truly worn out as well as unhappy. I’m feeling a bit much better today, however still holding off on running. I believe I’ll hit up the elliptical considering that I want to take it simple as well as checked out my mag anyways!

I was expected to join a few of my fave runner/blogger pals for a speed work session this morning, but I had to bail last night because I wasn’t Camiseta Santos Laguna going to make it in time. I asked Margot aka The faster Bunny (that’s her blog name!) to tell me what to do.

Note: Margot knows my PRs and gave me the following Yasso session…

Note #2: Margot certainly doesn’t know I am NOT the faster Bunny, maybe I could pass for the Easter Bunny, but that’s it.

I have never legitimately done speed work. I tried Yassos I think once before but didn’t really shoot for a time, just attempted to go faster than usual.

Since I wasn’t at a track I ran half a mile around a big block. Recovered, then went back where I came from. I did this 6 times. I’m sure it looked really strange to passersby, but I’m used to that.

The first two 800s were brutal. I called Margot and left a voicemail screaming, “I am NOT the faster bunny!!!!!!!”

Then, I put my big girl chonies on and did the other 4. I got faster for the last few, but did not hit 7:15s like she advised. next time, I promise.

Now that it’s over I’m kinda happy of myself for doing all 6 repeats. I wanted to quit after one.

Then, I headed home to celebrate Waffle Wednesday! remember when I used to eat waffles every Wednesday and make a joke about how it sounded like terrible Wednesday?

I really wish I could make protein waffles, but the last two times they’ve been a disaster. I will try again soon, but for now I have Kashi waffles with PB&J, chia seeds and naner. I filled the protein void with a big bite of Ben’s egg sandwich.

Snack Spotlight: I scored a Manager’s special for the new Yoplait Greek Yogurt Parfaits and had one for a snack yesterday afternoon.

I thought it was going to be crappy granola, but it was good!

230 calories seems like a lot compared to other greek yogurts, but this is a lot less than I would eat if I had a whole bag of granola I added to the yogurt myself!

Pros: portion control, easy to take on the go, tastes good

Cons: Camiseta Tottenham Hotspur Not as much protein as other greek yogurts, too expensive even on sale

Shakes at the mall

After church Ben dropped me off at the mall while he ran an errand. I walked around and around for almost and hour before he was back. By that time it was almost 2pm so we figured we’d have lunch. The whole time I was walking by myself everything looked so tempting, but I didn’t think I was hungry since I had a big breakfast.

But, when we started eating Ben noticed that I was shaking – a lot. I did feel very shaky, but it makes me self-conscious so I try to ignore or hide it most of the time. My body was trying to tell me something was off, but since I’m still learning how to read my hunger I wasn’t listening. I must have had low blood sugar or something. Hmmm, I obviously need to be more aware of my body.

In other news…the lady at the Asian food counter said they had brown rice so I told Ben that’s where I wanted to eat. He ordered. Then, I ordered and it turns out by brown rice they mean fried rice. F-word. since they already served Ben his food I didn’t want to opt out and go somewhere else (this was the best choice at that tragic food court as it was). So, I got tofu, veggies and white rice. You do the best with what you’ve got.

Oh, and as soon as Ben joined me he got this Boba almond tea and I had a drink or two. It feels like we’re in Irvine again ?

I woke up hungry today – I think it was partially due to de-hydration. I was super thirsty last night and did drink water, but not enough. I had a small bowl of cereal before doing 30 minutes of yoga. I bought this DVD recently. I love that it’s super slow paced. I haven’t done yoga consistently in a while and I’m not very good at it. This makes me like it again ?

Breakfast was French toast again. I am la-la-loving this meal! and for some reason I cannot get enough PB either! I am loving this Flax plus PB stuff after all (at first not so much).For some reason I just feel shaky today, and it’s not because of too much caffeine because I can drink a big Gulp of diet Coke no problem. I might be a goner. Well, it was nice knowing you all… I’m off to chug some water since I just ate a SB bar and still feel hungry!

Sunday set Up

This morning I started my day with a walk and some breakfast. I am really digging unwinding Sunday mornings.

Then, I hit up a few stores for a healthy grocery haul. I already have a lot of veggies so I just stocked up on fruit and eggs. I’m pleased apples are in season. I’m not very pleased Honeycrisp are a million dollars so I went with Fuji.

And I’m sportin’ a side braid because I’m lazy. I mean, trying to bring it back.

January – Meatless Mondays

February – No eating after dinner

Feb Recap: I have made development on not eating after dinner, however it wasn’t a total success. This is still a practice I am working on, however February’s difficulty did keep me from snacking after dinner every night. I am extremely pleased I am getting better.

March difficulty – This month I’ve chose to do one food as well as one physical fitness challenge.

Food difficulty – No eating after dinner: I’m going to continue to work on this habit. I’m not providing up yet ?

Fitness difficulty – Monica’s 30 Day Shred: I have put together a listing of easy exercises I will do each morning. It is essentially sit-ups, push-ups, leg lifts, squats as well as arm exercises. They are all simple things I can do by myself before I do anything else. I truly requirement to focus on being a much more well rounded athlete as well as getting stronger. Hopefully, this will help.

This morning my mother as well as I took an early walk as well as then I did a few of the 30 Day shred exercises as well as kept stopping to compose down what I believed ought to be included.

Breakfast was a PB Pita Pizza: whole wheat pita spread with PB as well as sprinkles with cinnamon. Then, top with banana “pepperoni” as well as enjoy!

One of the hardest parts about living in MD is that I didn’t bring my dog, Roxy. She is the black lab mix on the best (Bailey is my brother’s dog).

We made that difficult decision after much believed as well as it was extremely difficult for me. But, living in MD was never implied to be long-term as well as we understood our little house would be extremely unfortunate compared to the huge lawn she gets to roam year round in California (that eco-friendly stuff she’s laying on – aka turf is quite much MIA in MD now). The plan is to make sure we are able to take her anywhere we relocation next though. I can’t wait!! 

I am so behind on emails as well as other home keeping stuff – I much better get on it!

The potato curry was ridiculously easy!

Easy Curry Recipe: Chop 3-4 potatoes w/ onions and cook them in coconut oil. Then, add ground turkey and tons of curry powder, turmeric and cumin. (I don’t measure spices.) finally I add a package of frozen peas and stir in one 8oz. container of plain yogurt. adjust seasonings as needed.

This morning I did 5.5 miles through a new neighborhood. I’m always complaining about the hills so I went downhill first and came uphill back. It was a good run, but I turned back early since the sidewalk stopped. I guess I know where the sidewalk ends around here…(source)

Over breakfast Ben and I discussed washing our hair. He washes his everyday and thinks it’s weird that I skip a day (or two). When I ran on the treadmill I would wash my hair everyday because I was sopping with sweat – I would never think to skip a day! now I go every other day, depending on sweat and life and stuff.

I don’t skip 10 days, I don’t know why I’m doing that…
