Confession…

I wore two hoodies yesterday.

Usually that’s not a sin, but it is in weather that looks like this:

I chewed a whole pack of Trident Layers yesterday.

I have no shame when it pertains to odd salads.

I am out of control with Sonic delighted hour and just hope the local Sonic employees think I’m sharing with a friend.

Aaaand I wish it was a legit delighted hour… Peter.

I will get anything on clearance. (Luckily, this was delicious!!)

It was my turn Camiseta AS Monaco to bring dinner for girl’s night but I really couldn’t think Camiseta Gremio of anything that sounded good. So, I picked up subway and cookies.

I want a kid just so I can tell them Panda puffs have real panda bear in them.

happy Tuesday ? Ben and I woke up early, but we ended up getting distracted searching for a matching pair of white socks and discussing details of the world. You know how that goes… So, by the time I was about to get out the door I had been up for an hour and a half with no fuel. major No-No!

It’s a small energy bite perfect for shorter workouts. Or, you can eat more than one for longer sessions.  

But, a little warning – I didn’t realize this thing was wrapped in paper and almost bit into it!

Peel and eat ?  

It might be other factors, but I did feel more energetic on this run versus yesterdays when I didn’t have one of these! So, there’s that…

I did 6 miles, was supposed to do 8 but the late start meant nope.

When I got home I glanced at the time – 9am exactly. CRAP! Our water is shut off from 9am to 11am today and I have to be at work at 11am!!!

I am way too sweaty and smelly to go like this, so I’m going to have to show up early to shower at work. 

I am all about the egg sandwich today and couldn’t wait for breakfast!    

BIG Bites!

I’ve mentioned it before, but I get really into my food. Today I had ketchup all up my arm and didn’t realize until I was done.

I had a coupon for this Tropicana Juice and has been drinking it straight out of the carton, so it hasn’t been documented on the blog. Ben hates this stuff so it’s totally okay for me to drink out of the container since it’s all mine! 

You guys know Dunkin Donuts is the reason I fell in love with iced coffee last year when I lived in Maryland. There’s no DD in California, but I love to hit it up when we visit Ben’s family in Florida ?

Now Dunkin Donuts is considering using Cage free eggs in their egg sandwiches! You can sign a petition to encourage them to use cage free eggs here.

13.1 notes from the long beach half Marathon:

1. before I went to the race expo I did a mini-meal prep. Well, if making a huge batch of salsa chicken counts as ‘mini meal prep’.

2. I hit up the expo yesterday. It was the most beautiful day! I didn’t need any running gear or fuel so I was in and out fairly quickly.

3. On the way home I hit up Trader Joe’s for carb-loading essentials. (And some non-essentials like rose and Pumpkin O’s cereal.)

4. When I got home I discovered vegas knocked over the trash!! He found the package from the chicken! Busted.

5. I spent the evening meal prepping to run… and by that I imply eating multiple meals in preparation to run.

6. then I set my alarm for bright and early! and I woke up bright and earlier than my alarm was even set!

I did the typical pre-race stuff… iced coffee / Spark  / cereal / restroom / sunblock / selfies…

7. surprisingly getting to the race was easy breezy! I don’t know if less people ran the LB marathon / half marathon this year or if the route I took was that much better than before but there is typically a lot of traffic and it’s hard to find parking race morning. This morning it was very easy.

I hit the bathrooms and got the start line with about 15 minutes to spare.

8. The LB race is flat in my mind. I always think running at the beach implies it’s very flat. I picture the bike / walking paths along long beach and Santa Monica and Huntington beach – those are all very flat paths that go on for miles (and I love it)!

But there are some hills on this course. There are a few overpasses in the beginning and there are a few turns too.

Tip: stay alert while running around sharp turns or windy paths – in some cases other runners will try to run the tangents or cut over and not see you or bump into you.

9. It was good and overcast for many of the race. someone said it was a little humid but I didn’t notice.

10. There is a donut hole stop around mile 10. I never stop here because I’m typically trying to get into the zone at this point. Oh, and when I’m running a full marathon I typically do fuel every 5 miles so I would typically already be eating the fuel I needed.

Tip: I typically do Margarita shot blocks at Mile 5 & Mile 10 and Clif Mocha Gel at Mile 15 and then decide when I want to do at Mile 18-20… it depends on how I’m feeling.

11. I wasn’t feeling great today. I didn’t feel bad necessarily… I just felt kinda slow and heavy. and Camiseta CF Monterrey I felt out of breath – as in out of shape and like I typically feel like walking up stairs. This could be from a few different things…

Possible reasons I felt out of breath at the race:

a.) I’m out of shape.

b.) I’m in shape but was tired.

c.) An alien kidnapped me and stole one of my lungs last night while I was sleeping.

d.) I overthink things and this is all in my imagination.

e.) I was going too fast for my current fitness level.

f.) no one cares, stop making lists.

g.) I’m a sleep walker… but I walk to the local liquor store and purchase a pack of cigarettes in my sleep.

h.) I need to re-freaking-lax

i.) I was exhausted or not recovered from my last run.

12. Run and done!

I finished with a time of 1:45: 41 and 8:04 pace. (Unofficial – official times will be released by tonight per their website.)

13. After the race I went by the beach Cities challenge booth and got my special medal.

You get an extra fancy medal (it’s both extra and fancy) for running all 3 of the beach City races. This includes: the surf City Marathon & half / Orange county Marathon & half / long beach Marathon & Half. You can do the full or half marathon – just have to Camiseta Bologna FC 1909 do all 3 in a row.

(Surf City is in Huntington beach and Orange county runs through Newport Beach.)

It’s a huge starfish medal that opens like a locket!

.1… then I headed to the Sole Runners booth. The Sole Runners team is coached by Steve – who has coached new and seasoned runnersto do the long beach Marathon and LA Marathon for years. but much more importantly – Steve and all the SRs are very sweet and fun.

The nicest and 2nd many run out of all of them is Leann! I Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Camerún love her. (The 1st many fun is Steve.)

And I think Leann is the sweetest out of the whole group. She organized the post-run tent and it had so numerous awesome food and drink options. My kinda victory lap!

Why eating While viewing TV Is a problem For Me

Ben was out of town for a little bit and because he’s back I chose to try and purchase his love by making him steak. I’m not really a red meat person and I never cook it unless it’s for someone else. but it’s his favorite  so I purchased a fancy cut of meat and looked up how to cook it properly. It is surprisingly easy and pretty fast to cook steak. Why didn’t anybody tell me before?!

I cooked up onions, asparagus and mushrooms and a baked potato to go along with it. He was very amazed and said that it was amazing, which I’m pretty thrilled about.

I made myself a big sweet potatoes veggies and eggs.

But because I eat so enthusiastically I somehow managed to break MY FORK  in the middle of the meal!! You might love food, but I love food so much I break utensils trying to get at it.

Usually the most significant disaster that results from me eating is food on my t-shirt but this is a new low. Wow.

He brought me Manatee Poop from Florida for dessert so the meal ended on a high note.

 

This morning I did a longer mid-week run. I ran 12 miles on my normal path, which is slightly uphill the entire way out. but that also implies it’s downhill on the way back.

I was very slow for the first six miles but felt very fast for the last six! I’ve chose to relocation to the top of the hill and just run down it all the time and take an Uber back to the top so I always feel fast. That’s a little running suggestion for ya – live at the top of a hill and run down.

It’s very hot here today so I rehydrated like it was my job with Spark, lemon water, seltzer and more.

On eating While viewing TV

I used to be a big advocate for eating at the kitchen table without distractions. I tried to make an effort not to read or look at my phone or view TV while eating. I know it’s essential – especially for intuitive eating – to pay attention to your food and delight in it.

But I’ve fallen into some bad practices lately. I started viewing TV during lunch.

In my defense, it’s hard to work from home all day and not have any outside stimulation or interaction with people. I think I first did it to break up the day and have a little home entertainment during my break. I don’t listen to music or anything while I work (I can’t concentrate) so this is the only time there is any noise going on all day.

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal because I’m not very addicted to it and I still pay attention to what I’m eating. I practically see it as an act of self-care because I was lonely and this helps break up the day. I started doing this when there was trouble in my relationship and my one pal was busy or out of town and couldn’t hang out. It’s okay.

So my problem isn’t really about the fact that I’m viewing TV, but much more about what I’m watching.

Grey’s Anatomy re-runs are on around lunchtime and I now find myself very into the show.

The problem is – this is the most depressing show of all time. Seriously. someone amazing is always dying or getting their heartbroken or dying because their heart is broken.

I cannot deal with viewing or listening to sad stuff. (Have I ever shared this here before?) but now I’m very into the show and want to view it each time I see it on the guide. I even record episodes now.

What the hell is my problem?! I know it’s sad. I actually cried during one of the episodes with Denny. Why am I choosing to continue to watch?! I ams ridiculous.

So I guess the most significant health lesson I can learn is: You’re not expected to view TV while you eat because you might end up viewing some tragic soap opera or old episode of Grey’s Anatomy where Denny dies and then cry onto your food and make your Camiseta FC Tokyo sandwich soggy. The end.

I’d consider quitting Grey’s but I’m not a quitter. I can’t relocation on yet…

Not my cat:

That other cat caught my eye while vegas was innocently sleeping on Ben’s his chair. This situation does make for some crazy wrong-cat-in-the-house switcharoo a la the crazy antics of I love Lucy!

Ben forget his wallet and cell phone at home and emailed me to bring them to him during lunch. We ended up at the Bone Fish Grill, a place I’ve been wanting to try for a while!

It is seriously outstanding here today!!! love it. We sat outside until our food was about to be blown away and decided to move.

Ben got some clam chowder to start and I stole a bite. It was good, but this isn’t soup weather

The Camiseta Atletico Madrid view over his shoulder was gorgeous too. The poles distract, but it’s a clear day and you can see straight to the mountains.

I ordered the Mahi Mahi cajun style. It comes with either rice or fries (they have brown rice too!), but Ben urged me to get the sweet potato fries and I agreed on the condition that he would he most of them. He kept of his end of the bargain and I got to enjoy a few without overdoing it

After I took him back to work I went to Walmart to return the camera I got for my mom for Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Países Bajos Christmas (she got another one she prefers). It was unopened, unused but they would NOT take it back. They said I am past the 15 day return limit for digital cameras. This is true, but I offered to take the sale price or whatever they could do to work with me and they refused. I called customer service, explained my situation and offered to take a discounted amount back on the camera, but they couldn’t help me either. Needless to say I am very upset and will not be doing business with them again.

I’m going to try and sell it on Craigslist… boo.

Fake breast

I had a fake chick’n breast for dinner tonight. These were on sale and I am trying to test out new veggie proteins. The entire package is under 300 calories – chick’n, rice and Camiseta Tigres UANL sauce.

This is how it really looked (served with salad). You really shouldn’t expect food to look Camiseta Gremio like the package unless you delight in being disappointed. I thought about making brown rice instead of the white it came with, but I have been very busy and was too hungry by dinner time.

Earlier in the day I had trail mix for a snack. I used to eat this all the time when my mother and I were obsessed with Kashi to lose weight. That stuff is filling.

Good-bye Godzilla… Ben and I gave away our fish to a little young boy outside our apartment. The fish was very imply and would continuously rape bully the other fish.

I just hope his mother is amazing with it…

BLTs – In an effort to copy everything Janetha does today I have also jumped on the BLT wagon. I have always said my most significant diet downfall is my random snacking. In purchase to reduce this I will be noting all the un-documented eats at the end of the night.

I love new Year’s resolutions!!!

and hot sauce.

I love setting a goal that will make me better, make me pleased and give me some purpose for the year. I know many people don’t keep their resolutions, but I typically keep mine – or at least get really close.

Last year my #1 goal was to run 13 half marathons for 2013. I kinda failed, and kinda surpassed it at the same time.

My other 2013 resolutions were:

Go to yoga or cross train 2x a week. Eh. I did cross training, but not yoga.

Stick to my new eating plan for 3 months. <- DONE! I had a little fact finding mission suggested by a holistic nutrition expert and I did some trial and error with my diet. Be nice. Um. Yeah, about that… Get organized. I’m 50/50 on this one. Go to China. I purchased tickets in 2013, but won’t be going until 2014. Take better care of myself. Yeah, mostly. Choose Happiness. Done! I had some highs and lows this year and really focused on my blessings when it got tough. My 2014 resolutions: 1. Run 14 RACES – I need to redeem myself for last year’s miss of the 13 13s! I was tempted to try and do 14 halfs but, now that I know I in some cases dig the full mary I’m splitting it. I’m shooting for 7 half marathons and 7 full marathons. plus a cherry on top = 30 miler for good luck. 2. pr in the marathon! Yes, I’m chasing it. 3. lose the last 5 10 pounds. I finally figured out how to lose weight for my body and was doing terrific before the holidays, so the last 5 pounds looked to 10. It’s okay. Even though I made a lot of progress in 2013, I didn’t get to my goal weight and I really want to get there this year. 4. dress better. 5. figure out a five year plan.

6. Love. love God, myself, my body, my family, my friends, strangers, lamp… learn to love everything and everyone more.

Last year my focus was on choosing happiness and I want to keep that and expand on it with learning to come from a place of love with my thoughts and actions. #PassItOn

7. TBD. I had seven goals when I did this in my head and now I can’t remember the last one?! Camiseta Feyenoord I’ll add it as soon as my brain works again.

Hello! It’s Day 5 of the pile on the Miles Challenge!! how are you doing?

It’s a rest day for me so I’m going to catch up Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Polonia on work stuff. check in on Instagram or here in the comments!

And here’s something I found on twitter this morning that’s a terrific reminder. All the miles and cross training and rest and fuel add up to a stronger runner and a better race day.

This week I had tons of technical difficulties and after a full day of trouble-shooting, 4 letter words, tears, frustration, test calls to my mother I think I have it sorta figured out!!

So I chose to make a test call to my one pal skinny Runner aka BarlesHambone aka SR aka Wacka Flocka aka Veronica Corningstone…

The picture below is from a shake-out run the day before the nyc Marathon! We didn’t run together because we were in different corrals – and you cannot switch that up in NYC. (Some  races the runner in the corral ahead/faster can go back a corral that’s slower.)

This was from the Suncadia Marathon. I ran the half marathon and got a picture of her as she was running the full marathon. Oh, and she WON the race – 1st place female.

I called skinny Runner on her run this morning to bug her and to see if I could record podcast interviews in this new way. She was actually on her treadmill and not expecting me to call so it’s not the best quality but I thought it was kinda random and would be fun to share.

She didn’t expect it and I wasn’t sure it was recording so we’re both on our best awkward behavior. It’s probably the most major conversation we’ve ever had.

Moral of the story… the sounds like I’m on speaker with someone who’s running on a treadmill. because I was.
