Hello! This morning I hit the sidewalk for a 10 mile run. It is surprisingly cold here!! I’m outside Sarasota on the Gulf side of Florida and it’s usually warmer than home (in SoCal). but today I was super freezing for the first mile and a half. and yeah, I realize Camiseta Kawasaki Frontale cold for me is not cold for everyone. I can’t handle ‘real’ cold!

Luckily, as long as I’m running I warm up fast. It was a really good run and I listened to the In the Dark podcast which made the miles fly by.

A pal of the family brought over two boxes of pastries from the Gasparilla Inn Bakery. I tried the morning Glory Muffin plus this amazing pecan tart.

Sunday I did some deadlifts and squats with a weight per CJ’s instruction. since I’m away from home and don’t have a gym membership right now I used this 40 pound weight that was in the garage. work with what you got!

Bear stood by to keep me company. He is funny because  he barks at me like he doesn’t know who I am at least once a day! It’s not just because of his shaggy bangs that he barks, he does that after they’ve cut them too. He might not be super bright, but he’s cute.

Last night we visited Ben’s sister and fam. She got a fancy dehydrator last Christmas and is an expert at dehydrating everything from herbs to fruit now.

I saw this on the counter and wasn’t sure what it was…

Turns out it is dried star fruit! It was really good and I kept snacking on it the whole time. It’s so pretty too!

I’ve seen star fruit in the grocery store and several side-of-the-road stands here in Florida, but only once in SoCal. I think that’s for the best because I would become obsessed with it.

It didn’t work. So, I went back again today.

She cautioned me that if she had to cut it out it would be very painful and I would potentially scream Camiseta Inter Milan in bloody murder and scare all the other patients. Noted.

I was scared.

Turns out she thinks it’s a wart (it’s hard to tell because we’ve picked at it twice). and she burned it off. now I have a hole in my foot. Gross.

After my doctor’s appointment I went to my mom’s and we walked the dogs. When we got back I made a salad beast. There was a short moment of embarrassment when I used my mom’s serving bowl and she thought I made a salad for everyone to share.

Nope. All mine.

I can’t believe I posted this – and I post a lot of embarrassing things!

This run was supposed to be: 2 mile warm up; 3 miles at 8:30 pace; 1 mile cool down. I don’t have my Garmin with me, but from memory…

I ended up doing something like:

Mile 1: warm up

Mile 2: 8:35

Mile 3: 8:29

Mile 4: 8:31

Mile 5: 8:14

.40 mile: cool Down (I ran out of time!)

Yes! I felt like speedy Gonzales!!! Arriba! Arriba!!!

I might start wearing sombreros for my tempo runs. If anyone can, a Mexi-can. (I still have to make a shirt with that on it!)

I also had to make breakfast speedy since I have such a long commute! I have oatmeal in a jar. But, I have to admit to a major blog land no-no, I used instant oatmeal packets – one maple brown sugar and one regular. mixing them makes the best flavor or it’s too sweet.

Poured into an almond butter jar and topped with pineapple cottage cheese and blueberries.

I am obsessed with pineapple cottage cheese right now. Ob.Sessed.

Lunch was eaten while working since today was a busy and short day. I made a veggie burger wrap with POP chips on the side. nothing amazing, but I love this meal. Easy, filling and delicious, just like I like it.

And now I am enjoying free Wi-Fi, an iced coffee and a blueberry scone at The Coffee Bean while writing up my breathe post and blogging.

I’ll save half for Ben because I am a good wife. That or, I am planning on a delicious dinner ?

I tried these new to me Grilled Asparagus from Trader Joes – like them.

Dinner – Rotisserie poultry (the skin is missing since I ate it while taking the meat off the poultry yesterday), microwaved a wonderful potato as well as the asparagus.

To make it a lot more tasty I put this dressing on top of the chicken. I don’t such as this as salad dressing, however it’s excellent on chicken.

This morning I woke up, grabbed some iced coffee as Camiseta Club Tijuana well as hit the walkway for a tempo run. I’m most likely going to modification around the days since my marathon training plan has me running long runs on Sunday as well as I want to push whatever as much as Saturday (or Monday?). Tbd.

Cool, overcast mornings are the very best for running. considering that it was a tempo run I was truly pushing it as well as had to stop a few times to odor the roses. I generally stopped at lights that I would have usually tried to run as well as stopped at the bathroom.

Mr. TomTom was delighted with my heart rate recovery. Nice!

Then, I hurried back house to shower as well as hit the pantry. We were busier than normal today, no genuine explanation for it. thankfully there is one more shipment tomorrow so whatever will be replenished.

Easing into It

As you may have noticed I have not been eating true Body for life style. With BFL you are supposed to aim for ratios of 40 :40 protein to carbs and my meals have been carb heavy and included things like dark chocolate. God Bless it (even though BFL doesn’t.)

For a second and a half I felt bad about slacking on this plan, but before I would let myself get upset I realized I should keep building on the changes I have made so far. I have already noticed a substantial change in my blood sugar and hunger patterns. I normally feel like I cannot stop myself from afternoon snacking and nighttime eating. now that I make sure protein is a big part of every meal that has become a lot more controllable. It is a noticeable difference and I’m happy with that even if I am not losing pounds like crazy.

My afternoon snack was roasted broccoli (that was disgusting because I accidently poured salt all over it instead of sprinkling) and a few wasa crackers with hummus and turkey. This snackage got me through my photography class – I credit the protein

One of the bigger changes from my attempt at BFL is the fact that after years and years of vegetarianism I am eating poultry. since I don’t have any “go to” chicken recipes I had to use one of my mom’s. Well, it’s an improvised recipe. Tonight I chopped up 3 large chicken breasts and sautéed them with onions and zucchini.

Once the chicken was cooked and zucchini soft, add a can of Campbell’s condensed cream of Mushroom soup (my mom’s staple recipe), a bag of mushrooms and a cup of cottage cheese. finally I seasoned with salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Done and delicious! It was great!

I served this with rice for Ben:

On Weight loss: I have been getting a lot of questions on how BFL is working and weight loss. since I am not following BFL exactly I didn’t want to weigh myself last Friday. I will update that sometime this week or next.

My Camiseta Selección de fútbol de Croacia Intuitive eating background keeps me very hesitant to do anything that feels like a diet. Easing into a more balanced way of eating (with more protein and fat instead of copious amounts of cereal) has helped me to feel comfortable with these changes and know that I can maintain them long term.

In order to keep building on my BFL efforts I am going to add a mini-goal to my week every week for the next 6. For the rest of this week I am going to switch out my dessert with Camiseta PSV Eindhoven a protein ice cream shake ? This goal is going to be fun.

These diy veggie burgers are so simple as well as healthy – I like throwing them together for a quick lunch or dinner.  I utilized to make veggie burgers all the time (and eat the store bought frozen ones) however pre-made ones can be costly as well as full of random ingredients.

Easy Black Bean Burgers Recipe

Ingredients:

1 can black beans (rinsed)

1 egg

1/3 cup oat flour (blend quick oats to make)

spices (S&P, garlic powder, your fave)

Directions:

Nope. He made some sort of gross Theraflu concoction. It was gross and I may or may not have accused him of trying to kill me.

We got to the airport with time to enjoy dinner together.

He started with a great clam bisque.

I got a Raspberry Lemonade (with vodka) to help me sleep on the flight.

For dinner I got the Turkey Melt. I’ve been craving a good deli turkey sandwich with sprouts. This wasn’t it.

Fruit instead of fries because I want a prize.

The flight was uneventful. I had a really great seat (window, no one in the middle) until some lady decided she wanted to sit in our middle seat and leave the light on all night. Motherf. thanks lady.

Tina swooped me up from the airport at 5:33am (God bless her) and took me to the Happiest place on earth – Marylou’s. This is the best iced coffee. I’m pretty sure it’s because when you say “no sugar” they still put some, but I’ll continue to look the other way.

I only ended up with about 3ish hours of sleep so I’m in a weird fog brain.

I’m trying to rally and just jump into the fun, so I ate breakfast on Tina and Theodora’s time.

Today we’re headed to the new balance factory to see where running shoes come from!

Where ever they come from, I’m pretty sure my shoes weigh 22 pounds each…

But first we have to get supplies for our reach the beach van! I don’t know if I should be excited or scared or what.

2. I always believed if I was an animal I’d be a tiger, however perhaps I’m more like a wolf.

5. Today was my last run before RnR San Diego this Sunday. I just ran a half marathon on MONDAY hello, so my legs are not recuperated sufficient from that to run a difficult race. I’m going to focus on fueling as well as pacing. likewise – it has taken me A great deal longer to recuperate from the 50k than to recuperate from a marathon. It was rough!
