Over here I am getting ready to make tamales! My family only makes tamales for Christmas because it’s a ton of work. and actually I’ve never made them myself – I always just go over my Nana’s and help, but I wasn’t able to go this year.

Since I’m staying in California for Christmas this year I made a decision to start the tradition of making them with my lil mommy and brother (they don’t know they’re helping yet – but it takes a village to make tamales!).

First step: Make the meat that goes inside. Done.

While this cooked yesterday I went to my mom’s and hung out with my peeps. We worked in a little walk to justify all the goodies.

And I got into the Christmas spirit by watching home Alone.

My favorite tiny person came over too and I got a peek at the world’s cutest running shoes! (Okay, maybe they’re not so much ‘running’ shoes as ‘stumble around like a small drunk person shoes’ but you know what I mean.)

Now I have to get back to tamale prep. next step: make the masa!

This is going to be a very messy adventure – wish me luck!

(I took that picture on a cruise to Baja back when I thought it was okay to go to Mexico.)

Today I made green Chili Mushroom Enchiladas.

The filling:

1/2 c. onions

package sliced mushrooms

1 Tb. minced garlic

1 c. shredded cheese

The rest:

4 whole wheat tortillas

jar of green chili salsa (or green enchilada sauce)

shredded cheese

Directions: cook onions and garlic in a hot skillet with Tb. olive oil until tender. add mushrooms and small cans of green chilies. cook through.

Take one tortilla, spread 1/4 of the filling mixture and 1/4 of the cheese. gently roll up. Repeat with each tortilla.

Tip: using fresh tortilla will prevent breakage.

Pour salsa verde over the rolled enchiladas. top with cheese. Bake until cheese is melted and heated through.

I served it with refried black beans and roasted broccoli.

Wait! Something is missing!

Avocado. Ahhhhh. much better  

Don’t worry, if you didn’t find a sombrero…just pour yourself a margarita pina colada and call it a good time

For long runs I do something like oatmeal or toast with Camiseta Sport Club Internacional PB as well as a banana. eventually it depends upon what I’m in the mood for as well as what I have around. I understand what I can eat the morning of a run. I’ve done whatever from oatmeal to Quest bars to tortillas with butter as well as salt.

But the most essential thing to understand for pre-run fuel is – method it in training. You requirement to understand your body as well as exactly how it responds to different foods. You requirement to understand while running around your community if something is going to upset your stomach.

Take a Snow walk

Church was a fail! When Ben and I pulled up the vehicle parking lot was empty!? We’re not registered members of this church so I’m sure they let people know somehow, but we were very surprised!

Despite the cold, it is very sunny today so we decided to take a walk. Ben and I strolled around for about an hour. It’s very pretty out, with everything dusted white (but it’s not growing on me :)).

We both thought it was so crazy how big these chunks of ice were! They were falling off a building right by the trail we were on – shouldn’t there be cones so people stay away?

So pretty! Cold, but pretty…

I thought eating a lot of nut butter with breakfast would keep me fuller longer, but nope – I was hungry within a few hours.  I was thinking about lunch on the way home and knew I wanted an apple, just wasn’t sure what to have it with…

I ended up heating up the peanut noodle leftovers and the last of my chickpea casserole. Yum! I usually “save” leftovers for dinner or give them to Ben. It was so nice to enjoy a dinner type meal in the middle of the day.

I had a dark chocolate square for dessert. I can seriously eat dark chocolate after every meal and snack.

Now I should go to the store to get some veggies, since we don’t have any in the house (except boring ol’ carrots), but I don’t feel like putting all my layers back on ?

Ben and I took a short walk to discuss this weekend’s agenda. It’s kinda crazy.

Ben hit up the shower when we got back and I hit up the kitchen to make breakfast.

Since I love bread and syrup I made Bagel thin French Toast.

Toppings included: pumpkin mixed with spices and stevia (heated), syrup Camiseta Borussia Monchengladbach and peanut butter. There was half a banana consumed at some point too.

I consider pumpkin a fall flavor, so it’s weird to be eating it now! no one tell the tree huggers I’m eating “out of season”.

This is why I don’t have any friends…

I usually only weigh myself once a month or so and today was that day. despite a Camiseta Barcelona very indulgent vacation and week of eating out I’m not up on the scale. I’m sure I owe God a favor now, but I’ll take it!(source)

Unfortunately, I didn’t realize that until just now. Oh well.

Did you get down with your pet dog on your lawn? If so, please tell me you took a picture. and send it to me.

I really need to get back to going to yoga once a week. It’s been years considering that I’ve been that consistent, but my legs are regularly tight and unhappy. It’s affecting my runs, mood and sleep at this point!

So today I grabbed my mat and rushed out the door to make my favorite class. It was packed and I ended up on top of the music table. This was good and bad because I kept glancing at the time… My yoga studio only has 90 minute classes and I get bored after an hour. I think if I could find a good 1 hour class I’d go more.

I considered picking something up for lunch, but made a decision to save a few bucks and go home. Salad and yam.

But the insides are yellow not orange? The store had lighter on the outside sweet potatoes too, but I wanted orange and specifically got these ones.

Manager’s special fruit. You know I love it.

The other reason I went to yoga is I have a new yoga outfit I needed to test out! new balance sent me a yoga top and pair of yoga pants. At this point I’m convinced my hips have the entire universe in on trying to get me to yoga a lot more often!

I love racer back tops! This was incredibly comfortable and I didn’t have to fidget with my top or pants during all the twisty moves (read: me in child’s pose waving the white flag).

Speaking of new Balance… I’m going to be running the reach the beach Relay race in may with team Off Balance! new balance is sponsoring us, for this reason the name

It’s a 200 mile relay race with 11 other girls. Tina is the captain and is organizing the race so I know a lot of of the girls, but not everyone. I’ve never done a relay before and I’ll be flying in from CA when everyone else is east coast. It’s going to be an experience!

Runner’s world huge book of Running for Beginners

A rep from Runner’s world sent me the RW huge book Of Running for novices book a few weeks back as well as I’ve been flipping with it slowly. Needed: much more protein

I think I may need much more protein in my little Mexican life. For some reason my taste-buds lean towards carbs – not protein, so balancing Intuitive eating with my nutritional needs is going to take some work.

I have been really trying to listen Camiseta Gamba Osaka to my body, but the last few afternoons (pre and post-vacation/marathon) I’ve gotten really snacky after lunch. I find myself grabbing big handfuls of trail mix or scoops of PB on bread. While some of it may have been tension related, I do think my body isn’t getting all the protein it needs considering I was training for, and now recovering from, a marathon.

The next few days I’m going to work on incorporating protein into breakfast in an effort to start the day with a balanced body and blood sugar ?

Around 10:30am I was hungry, but in the middle of a project. I chose to break with an apple. Again, my hand isn’t dirty, I’m still scarred from my last fall ?

Today’s lunch had protein in the form of TJ’s egg white salad. I lalalove this stuff and used to purchase it all the time at home!

I piled the whole container in a wrap. I also had some baked Cheetos on the side, but my hand was too covered in orange dust to bust out the camera!

After lunch I still wanted something, preferably something sweet so I had an english muffin with PB&J… In hindsight I probably ought to have had something like yogurt and fruit or veggies with hummus, but Camiseta West Ham United whatev.

I already have a list of protein filled breakfasts to try! I’m thrilled ?

Hanging upside down after eating a number of slices of  pizza is especially no bueno. (Ben’s brother got us these leg brace things for Christmas!)

I believe it’s werid that I Lalalove fro-yo a lot more than anything, but I need cake if I’m having ice cream. It’s only right. 

I’ve been in Florida since the 24th now and haven’t been publishing extremely regularly. That’s all fine and well because I’ve just been eating chicken salad and cookies I’m sure you’re busy too.

But, I wished to share what I’ve been eating in Florida…

Breakfast: Egg sandwiches, like always.

Lunch: weird salads that rival whole Foods salad bar because Ben’s mommy has 2 stocked refrigerators! 2.

In between: Carrot Cake and different other baked goods.

But tonight Ben and I went out to dinner with his sibling and brother-in-law. We actually went with them to their birthing center appointment (she’s 6 months along). The timing was funny – it was also the birth Camiseta Aston Villa FC center’s open house. Ben asked a ton of concerns – someone’s curious about baby stuff!

I was curious about when my belly would get full but not with a baby…

We started with spring Rolls. I’m not the biggest fan of spring Rolls, but I’m the biggest fan of anything and everything dipped in peanut sauce.

When we got back home I had a bit cake and ice cream. because it’s always someone’s birthday in Florida?

Monday’s Munchies

Hola Amigos! Today I’m doing full day of eats for one publish since that’s exactly how my brain works. even though I’ve been reading blogs that do breakfast, lunch as well as din in separate messages for many years I still would rather see it in purchase

I ate eggs as well as a PB&J pita

Snack #1: As part of my 30 Day wise Snack difficulty – I had a bowl of PB Cheerios as well as milk. 250 calories of deliciousness.

Then, I went to work for a floor hour shift. As soon as I got house I tore apart my kitchen area for lunch. huge salad with chicken, hummus as well as a new tomato garlic spread we got at the Farmer’s Market. new bar  

This is the new Kashi Banana chocolate Chip bar. It’s good, it’s no Vitatop however it’s good. may I suggest toasting it for a small bit? That’s the ticket.

I took a Camiseta Athletic Bilbao break from the computer to delight in Snack #2 – a hardboiled egg as well as popcorn.

Dinner was kinda unfortunate as:

A.)  I’ve had this cooked wonderful potato in my fridge for a few days as well as it needed to be eaten.

B.) I was as well lazy to roast the broccoli like I organized as well as just made one more salad.

C.) I stole a few of Ben’s garlic naan as well as now reek of garlic

I was about to eat this new flavor of Chobani for some protein, however Ben brought out his leftover Sonic Reese’s Blast as well as I stole a few bites of that.

Personal training, definitely!!! That is SO costly however worth it. Our fitness center provides totally free sessions to people when they indication up..and my 30 minute session left me sore for a week. I would have registered up until hearing the $300/mo cost! Nooo say thanks to you.
